Marriage visitor visa:
1. Overview:

You may need to apply for marriage visitor visa in the cases if,

• You are planning to get married in the UK or even to register civil partnership within the UK
• You are intended to give notice of civil partnership or marriage in UK
• You have no intention to stay in the UK after civil partnership or marriage
• You also meet all the eligibility requirements

How long it may take to get a visa:

You are actually supposed to apply for a visa within 3 months before the travel date.

You must get the decision for your visa within 3 weeks.

The processing times may also differ from country to country.

Fees:  

You will be charged £85 to apply for this visa.

For how long you may stay?

You will be permitted to stay in the UK for 6 months on the basis of this visa.

Dos and Don’ts:  

You can make use of this visa in order to marry within the UK or to get into a civil partnership:

• In any of the locations that have been licensed in this regard
• Only within 6 months after you have arrived in the UK

On the flip side, you cannot:

• Get the public funds
• Extend the time period of your visa or even switch to any other type of visa
• Bring any of the family members or dependents they need to apply separately
• Work-other than some allowed activities like attending meetings
• Study-other than 30 days incidental study
• Stay for an extended period via frequent visits

2. Eligibility:

You are eligible to apply if you are

• Over 18 years
• in a legal relationship
• going to visit the UK for not more than 6 months
• intending to leave the UK after visit
• allowed to give the notice of either being married or being entered in a civil relationship within 6 months once arrived
• having resources to meet the onward journey cost
• able for self support without any need of work or public funds

3. Documents required:

While applying for marriage visitor visa, you must provide:

• Current passport or any valid travel identification
• A passport sized photograph
• Details of travel plan and area you intend to stay in-you will not have to pay for travel or accommodations before getting your visa
• Proof of financial resources like pay slip or latest bank statement
• Proof for the future plans regarding relationship e.g., document showing where you’ll live

Further, you may also be asked to provide these:

• Details regarding civil relationship or even marriage together with the proof that you have already paid a few of its cost
• Proof that you’ve provided the notification regarding your marriage to the register office in Scotland, England and Wales, or even Northern Ireland

If you are going to re-marry, then you will be supposed to give the proof of your consent to show that you are free to make the decision of re-marriage or civil relationship e.g.

• Decree absolute
• Decree nisi
• Ex-partner’s death certificate

Certified translation of those documents must also be provided that aren’t in Welsh or English. Besides that, some additional documents may also be needed as per your circumstances.

4. Apply:

Apply outside of the UK:

For the Marriage visitor’s visa, you are supposed to apply online.

Your fingerprints and photographs (biometric information) will be taken by the visa application centre along with your application.

The processing of your visa application depends on the country where actually you live in; some may get the visa faster than others depending on their resident country.

North Korea:

• If you are residing in North Korea, then you will have to apply via post.
• While applying from North Korea, you have to:

Parent of a Tier 4 child visa

1. Overview:

You are free to apply for parent of Tier 4 child if:

• Your child is attending a fee-paying independent school within the UK.
• You do not belong to Switzerland or European Economic Era(EEA).
• You meet all other eligibility requirements.

You are actually supposed to apply for a visa within 3 months before the travel date.

You must get the decision for your visa within 3 weeks.
